This class examines Native American cultures of the Southwest. The class focuses both on the historical backgrounds of these peoples as well as current issues facing the many communities. We will engage with these issues through a focus on the philosophical underpinnings of their beliefs as well as through the use of language as a lens to understand frameworks of meaning that circulate among the various cultures of the Southwest.
