Practice in Speaking and Writing German
GERM 214 SP
This course is designed to build and strengthen skills in oral and written German. The course emphasizes attaining ease and fluency in oral expression through group discussion and achieving accuracy and stylistic
in writing. The thematic focus will be the city of Berlin in the 20th and 21st century.
Fictional and documentary treatments of the recent history and story of Berlin. Grammar review text.
EXAMINATIONS AND ASSIGNMENTS
Numerous short papers; vocabulary exercises; oral reports. Individualized work on grammar as needed.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS and/or COMMENTS
Regular attendance in class, at German films, and at events sponsored by the German Studies Department or the German Haus is expected.
