Current Issues in Ethnomusicology
MUSC 519 SP
This course concentrates on current scholarships, intellectual issues, and music ethnographies in ethnomusicology. It challenges the students with contemporary theoretical debates among ethnomusicologists, such as music
and identity, music and gender, race, and power, music and technology, and music and globalization. The course will closely examine the impact of interdisciplinary approaches on music ethnography through critical
of the readings.
2-3 short papers and a final research paper.
