This course will examine the intersection of psychology and religion as a cross-cultural project. We will make use of some classical Western theories of psychology of religion (Erickson, Jung, James), as well as adaptations of this Western discourse by non-Western scholars. We will also introduce some of the post-colonialist responses to these modern secular psychologies and examine alternative and competing knowledges derived from non-Western, indigenous psychologies.
