Carnegie Endowment for International Peace Junior Fellows Program

Deadline: Friday, December 1, 2006 by 4:00 PM.

The Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, one of the world's leading think tanks specializing in international affairs, conducts programs of research, discussion, publication and education in international relations and U.S. foreign policy.  The Junior Fellows Program is designed to provide a substantive work experience for students who have a serious career interest in the area of international affairs.  The Carnegie Endowment offers a one-year work experience in Washington, D.C. to Junior Fellows who provide research assistance to Associates working on the Endowment's research projects such as non-proliferation, democracy building, international economics, China-related issues and Russian/Eurasian affairs. The Junior Fellows Program is open to graduating seniors and individuals that have graduated from Wesleyan within the past academic year. The monthly salary is $2,500.00 and Junior Fellows are responsible for their own housing arrangements.

To be nominated, students must submit an original and three copies of the following, by December 1, 2006 at 4:00 PM, to the CRC:

  1. Application Form.
  2. 1-2 page resume (must include telephone number, address, e-mail address, extra-curricular activities and work experience).
  3. Two recommendations, at least one of which should be from a professor of the student’s major department.
  4. Transcript of undergraduate records (transcript may be unofficial).
  5. Essay (one page) or less, on why the student would like to become a junior fellow.
  6. An essay of no more than three typewritten, double-spaced pages on one of five topics. Please see the application information in the CRC library Fellowship section for possible topics.

Only complete applications will be considered. All interested students and alumni should review the official application guidelines that are located in the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace Fellowship guide in the Career Resource Center library. All of the above must be turned into the Career Resource Center by the due date. A review committee will then screen applications and possibly interview finalists. Note that the committee will forward up to two applications to the Carnegie Foundation for final consideration.
