Career Outlook Sponsor Overview
Purpose
The Career Outlook Program provides undergraduates an
opportunity to explore careers through shadowing a Wesleyan alumni or parent
during Winter Break. Shadow opportunities range from 1 day to 2 weeks and
may include observing a professional, participating in a specific project, or
“job-sharing” within an organization or business.
Dates of Participation
This year, students and sponsors can participate in a Career Outlook
opportunity anytime between January 2 through January 18, 2008. The sponsor
can choose any days and times during that period and can select one or more
final candidates for the opportunity.
Eligibility
All
currently enrolled Wesleyan undergraduates can participate in a Career Outlook
experience.
Please note that the application process is open (ie, the Career Center does
not screen certain applicants for certain positions) and therefore we cannot
guarantee that all sponsors will receive applications.
Procedure
-
Complete and
submit a Sponsor Sign-Up Form. We will then
place your opportunity online for our students to review.
-
The CRC will forward student applications to you via e-mail by the first
week in November. Applications will be bundled together in a single
Adobe Acrobat PDF-formatted document (sorry, we cannot send documents in
another program). If you do not have Adobe Acrobat Reader, you can
download it
free from the Adobe Web site. If you haven't used Acrobat Reader before
and would like to review the help documentation,
-
Review the
applications, select your final candidate(s) and at least one alternate and submit a
Sponsor Selection Form by
Friday, November 9, 2007.
-
The CRC will
contact your final candidate(s) and provide them with instructions for
contacting you.
-
When your
final candidate(s) contacts you, you should discuss dates and times for the
Career Outlook opportunity as well as any other final details.
-
Enjoy your
Career Outlook experience!
-
Complete an evaluation about your experience with Career Outlook.
