Career Outlook Student Overview
Career Outlook Student Overview
Purpose
The Career Outlook Program provides undergraduates an opportunity to
explore careers through shadowing a Wes alumni or parent during Winter Break.
Shadow opportunities can range from 1 day to 2 weeks and may include
observing a professional, participating in a specific project, or
“job-sharing” within an organization or business.
Dates of Participation
This year, students can participate in a job shadow
from January 2 through January 18, 2008.
Eligibility
All
currently enrolled Wesleyan undergraduates can participate in a Career Outlook.
Selection Process
Please note
that there are a limited number of Career Outlook opportunities. All
potential participants must submit a resume and cover letter
via MyCRC 2.0 to the specific Career Outlook sponsor of their choice and the sponsor will
select their final candidate. Unfortunately, the CRC cannot
guarantee that all applicants will be selected for a Career Outlook
experience.
NOTE: You must have your resume approved by a
CRC counselor before you are eligible to apply for Career Outlook**. Students
who have not had a resume approved will not see an "Apply" button for any of
the Career Outlooks listed in MyCRC.
Procedure
- Log onto MyCRC 2.0
- Click "Organization Search"
- Search by company name: "Career Outlook"
- Click on "Career Outlook Program"
- Select the "Jobs" tab (make sure the 'Ease Jobs' tab is selected)
- You can now view all of the shadowing opportunities! Make sure to check
back as new sponsors will be added!
The CRC will forward your application to the sponsor and you will be
informed whether or not you have received the Career Outlook between
November 14-21. If you are
selected, you must then contact the sponsor to discuss details.
**You can have your resume critiqued and approved by a counselor during
Drop In hours.
Additionally, you may also ask for counselor feedback on your cover letter
at the same time.
