READ the Timeline for
Alumni Medical School Applicants and the relevant portions of the
Health Professions Guide.
OPEN
a Credential Service File
at the CRC, if you have not done so already. Your
Health Professions Panel Letter and all letters of recommendation will be
kept here and forwarded to medical, vet or dental schools at your request.
COMPLETE
a "Request
for Preparation of a Wesleyan Health Professions Panel Letter"
consent form (PDF | MS
Word) and a "Document Transmittal"
form.
ASK
individuals who know you well and have taught you or supervised your work
to write on your behalf. Give them
plenty of time to complete the letters before the
MAY 8, 2008 deadline. It is advisable to have at least one letter from a
science faculty member. See our
tips for writers of recommendation letters.
REQUEST official transcripts from all colleges and universities where you have
taken courses (including Wesleyan) and have them sent to Alice
Scholar at the Credential Service.
UPDATE
your resume and COMPLETE an "Activity/Organization Detail Form" (PDF
| MS Word) for
each
activity or experience you list on the resume. For each experience or activity, include: (1) the name of activity or organization, (2) title or role, (3)
number of hours per week, (4) dates of involvement, (5)
a short description of specific duties, tasks, responsibilities, or
accomplishments, and (6) name of your supervisor(s). Detail forms may be submitted by attachment or in hard copy.
REMIND
those writing letters for you of the
MAY 8, 2008 deadline.
WRITE
a 2-3 page personal statement for the
Wesleyan Health Professions panel.
TURN IN -- ANY TIME BETWEEN FEBRUARY 19 AND MARCH 27, 2008 -- your personal
statement, resume and accompanying detail forms, and your completed
"Request for Preparation of a Wesleyan Health Professions Panel Letter"
and "Document Transmittal" forms, to Alice Scholar at the Credential Service.
Then, you may SCHEDULE
an interview with Peggy Carey Best, Health Professions Advisor. Contact Alice Scholar (860-685-3367) to arrange your appointment.
No requests for a panel letter will be accepted after MARCH 27,
2008.

If
you miss any of these deadlines, you will receive a standard cover letter
that will accompany your individual letters of recommendation.

What if you miss the March 27, 2008 (documents), the
May
2, 2008
(interview), or the May 8, 2008 (letter of recommendation) deadline?
We will provide a standard cover letter for your individual letters of
recommendation.
There will be NO
health professions panel letter interviews conducted after MAY 2, 2008.
Additional Credential Service Information related to the
Health Professions
Credential Service hours are Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday
from 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM.
The "15-mailing package," at a cost of $50, is the most
economical. You may purchase the
5-mailing package at a cost of $35. Complete
a registration form and make a check payable to
Wesleyan
University
and send it to Alice Scholar, Credential Coordinator,
at the CRC.
Monitor your credential file to see if recommendations have
arrived by contacting Alice Scholar at 860-685-3367 or by e-mail at ascholar@wesleyan.edu.
You must notify Alice Scholar
if there are any changes to your list of recommenders. A
health professions panel letter cannot be written without at least 3
letters of recommendation on file.
Your credential file will only be sent out after you have submitted
a written request containing your signature, your AMCAS, AACOMAS and/or
AADSAS ID number(s), your preferred email address, and list of all
medical schools to which you are applying to Alice Scholar, Credential
Service Coordinator. You may mail or fax your requests to 860-685-2181.
NO TELEPHONE OR E-MAIL REQUESTS ARE ACCEPTED.
