Self-Assessment
If we think of career planning as a step-by-step process, then
self-assessment is the first step. It is a structured approach to help you
identify compatible career options. We use two self-assessment instruments:
the Strong Interest Inventory and the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator. These
are designed to help you gain insight into aspects of your personality that
relate to job and career satisfaction. Self-assessment at the CRC is
conducted with a career counselor over a period of one or more scheduled
appointments. To get started, call 860-685-2180 for a scheduled appointment
with a counselor.
Health Professions Appointments
- Recommended for: Students or graduates
looking for: an overview of the diversity of health professions and
expectations of candidates for health professions graduate schools;
academic advising; internship or volunteer opportunities;
post-graduation employment and fellowships; and assistance with the
application process, including an institutional letter of recommendation
(Health
Professions Panel letter) for medical, dental or veterinary school.
- Description: By appointment only (30- or
60-minutes).
- How to schedule: Please call the CRC
reception desk at 860-685-2180. Tell the receptionist that you are
considering the health professions.

Peggy Carey Best for more information. Once scheduled, you should
dress as you would for the real interview, but a pen and pad of paper is
not necessary. If you don't have a
panel letter on file, you must drop off a resume and an unofficial
copy of your transcript 24 hours before the interview. If you have had a
panel letter written for you, there is no need to provide a resume or
transcript.
