Creative Campus — Performing Arts Commissions for Faculty
Proposals Due: August 18, 2017 (for Fall 2017)
and October 15, 2017 (for Spring 2018)

The Center for the Arts is currently accepting proposals for cross-disciplinary performing arts commissions for the 2017-2018 academic year as part of the Creative Campus Initiative. The program will support up to three commissioned works per academic year by performing arts faculty whose research involves working with scholars and materials in non-arts areas in ways that will advance the artists’ own research and extend the arts into new areas of campus curricular and co-curricular life. The Center for the Arts’ Creative Campus Initiative is designed to create new, cross-disciplinary projects that elevate the place of art, artists and the artistic process at Wesleyan in ways that innovatively strengthen teaching, student learning, art-making and cross-disciplinary exchange and inquiry.

Commissions will range between $2,000–$3,000 each. The commissioned work must premiere on campus within the year of the commissioning grant.

Proposals should include:

• Project description
• Budget and timeline
• Description of how this project will advance your research and its curricular connections
