Welcome to the home page of Wesleyan's Computer Science Group. You can return here by clicking the logo on any page in the web site.

The faculty members in the computer science group are responsible for teaching and developing computer science courses and administering the department's undergraduate program in Computer Science and graduate study in Foundations of Computing which is a concentration in the department's graduate program. These endeavors are supported by a variety of departmental and university computing resources.

The research interests of the group are in the areas of theoretical computer science, including programming languages, automated reasoning, and software engineering, with special interests in the areas of rewriting and unification, logic programming, and software design. These activities are complemented by the research interests of mathematics faculty members in the areas of algebra, combinatorics, and logic.

In general, we believe that computer science is the study of the computing process and should focus on the discovery and communication of fundamental principles in the field. Our teaching and research reflect this emphasis on foundational ideas as opposed to particular technologies.
