1997 Survey of Collections

This descriptive survey of the major components of the DAC's holdings is based on a document prepared in August 1997 by Ellen G. D'Oench, then Curator of the Davison Art Center. It is by no means inclusive and has not been updated to reflect more recent acquisitions, but it gives a general sense of the scope of the collection as of mid-1997. The print and photograph surveys touch on the most important holdings by period, singling out artists whose contributions are especially important, or in whose work the DAC collection has special strengths. Holdings in other media are listed chronologically by selected artist's names.

The links below lead to text-only descriptions which consist for the most part of lists of artists' names, preserved on this site as legacy pages. The information these pages contain now has been integrated into the museum's illustrated collections pages, where it is actively updated. We recommend that most users consult those pages rather the ones listed below.
