DAC holdings of works by artists who produced chiaroscuro woodcuts printed in colors from two or more blocks include unknown artists after Perino del Vaga (1) and Ugo da Carpi (1); Andrea Andreani (5); Domenico Beccafumi (1); Antonio da Trento (2); Ludolph Büsinck (5); Bartolmeo Coriolano (3); Hendrik Goltzius (4); John Baptist Jackson (3); Christoffel Jegher (1); Paulus Moreelse (2); John Skippe (1); Giuseppe Niccolo Vicentino (1); Antonio Maria Zanetti (5), and others. The chiaroscuro technique enabled woodcuts to emulate more closely the tonal gradations of wash drawings and watercolors; the DAC exhibition catalog Chiaroscuro 1500-1800 examines this technique.
