Jean-Honoré Daumier (1808-1879)

Daumier's enormous output of more than 3,000 prints, produced for Parisian tabloid newspapers, is rich in political and social commentary from the time of Louis-Philippe up to the Franco-Prussian War. The DAC owns Daumier's most important single-sheet lithograph, Rue Transnonain (the stone was confiscated by the government after only a few impressions were pulled), and 210 other Daumier prints.

This information was accurate as of 1997, but since then it has been integrated into the DAC's illustrated collections pages. The museum keeps this legacy page online for the convenience of those who may have bookmarked it or who find it via a link from another site or a search engine, but we recommend that most users consult our current collections pages.
