Selected Print Holdings

Albrecht Dürer (1471-1528) and His Contemporaries (1460-1530)

The DAC Collection's 73 Dürer woodcuts and engravings represent the full range of the artist's career as printmaker. Among the woodcuts are an early example from the Ship of Fools, the small and large Passion series, prints from the Apocalypse; Hercules Conquering Cacus; Portrait of Ulrich Varnbühler; St Jerome in His Cell; and The Last Supper. The engravings include the Prodigal Son; Holy Family with the Dragonfly; Hercules at the Crossroads; St. Eustace; Apollo and Diana; the 3 "Meisterstucke" (Melencolia I; Knight, Death, and the Devil; St. Jerome); Adam and Eve; The Nativity; The Sudarium; and Portrait of Erasmus.

Artists associated with Dürer or his circle include Heinrich Aldegraver (3); Albrecht Altdorfer (46); Hans Baldung (10); Leonhard Beck (5); Sebald Beham (25); Hans Burgkmair (4); Lucas Cranach (12); Augustin Hirschvogel (2); Hanns Lautensack (8); Hans Lemberger (1); Lucas Van Leyden (14); Israhel von Meckenem (Death of the Virgin after Dürer); Georg Pencz (7); Hans Leonhard Schäuffelein (37); Hans Springinklee (2); Tobias Stimmer (2); Wolf Traut (3); Hans Wechtlin (4); and Hans Weiditz (4).
