Early European Prints (1460-1490)Among the 15th-century works in the DAC Collection are those by anonymous artists, or by various artists known as "Master" or "Monogrammist," including Master ES (Calvary, the only impression in a U.S. collection); Master IAM of Zwolle (1); Master IB with the bird (3); Master MZ (7); Master of St. Erasmus (1); Master WH (2); Monogrammists HCZA, AF, DS, HCF, and others (17). Known artists include N. Mair von Landshut (1); Wenzel von Olmütz (1); Martin Schongauer (7, plus prints after Schongauer); and Michael Wolgemut (1). This information was accurate as of 1997, but since then it has been integrated into the DAC's illustrated collections pages. The museum keeps this legacy page online for the convenience of those who may have bookmarked it or who find it via a link from another site or a search engine, but we recommend that most users consult our current collections pages. www.wesleyan.edu/dac/coll/surv/prnt/early.html |
