Francisco de Goya (1746-1828)The DAC's collection of 222 works by Goya prints holds almost all of the artist's prints, including the sets: Caprichos (in the first edition); Disasters of War; the etched Bullfights (Tauromaquia),; and Proverbs. The DAC collection's greatest rarity is Goya's late lithograph, Portrait of Gaulon. Existing in only 2 other impressions (in Paris and Madrid), this print was discovered in 1957 in an album of French lithographs stored in the attic of Olin Library. This information was accurate as of 1997, but since then it has been integrated into the DAC's illustrated collections pages. The museum keeps this legacy page online for the convenience of those who may have bookmarked it or who find it via a link from another site or a search engine, but we recommend that most users consult our current collections pages.
