Looking In:
Photographs from the Collection of Andrew Szegedy-Maszak and Elizabeth Bobrick

On display were about seventy 19th- and 20th-century photographs owned by a Middletown couple, both of whom are classical scholars on Wesleyan's faculty. Ranging from early images of classical architecture to works by European artists such as Atget, Sander, and Kertész, the exhibition also included works by Robert Frank and contemporary American artists.

Women and Camera Work

This exhibition, curated by Devon Murphy and Kristen Evangelista (both B.A. 1997), explored representations of women published in Camera Work, a periodical associated with pictorialist photography. This movement sought to elevate photography to a high art form and employed images of women to achieve its aesthetic goals.
