To find out what's on view, please see our Current Exhibitions page. Wordplay: Text and Image from 1950 to NowSaturday 5 November - Sunday 11 December 2005
In the last 50 years, artists have repeatedly played with text and image, turning to the written language as the sign system most familiar and most artificial. Presenting images ranging from the Pop Art of Roy Lichtenstein to the "reverse anthropology" of Enrique Chagoya and body markings by Lesley Dill, this exhibition explored what happens when visual artists play with words. On view were works from the DAC collection and selected loans from The LeWitt Collection. DAC Curator Clare Rogan gave a gallery talk on Wednesday 9 November at noon. A reception followed.
