Information Architecture |
|
The DAC website's information architecture balances cross-cutting issues of content-type relations with actual modes of use. In some areas these information-based and user-driven perspectives cohere into consistent patterns, while in others they require best-fit compromises or composite approaches to reflect the divergent attributes of certain kinds of content and to serve their heterogeneous uses. These intersecting aims have led to a physical architecture in which filenames and directory hierarchies mostly adhere to consistent schemes but include certain intentional anomalies that enhance usability at the price of logical rigor. This is also affected in some cases by the utility of maintaining stable URLs for long-established pages often visited from links that have been widely distributed across the Web for years.
