User-Centered Strategy

The DAC website is conceived and implemented with the strategic goal of serving the educational needs of the people who use it. This underlies all aspects of the site, ranging from its underlying architecture to small points of graphic design.

This user-centered optimization is made possible by working knowledge of the museum's traditional mission and programs, to which the site's resources are closely related in ongoing ways. It relies equally on detailed attention to how people use the site as a learning resource. This knowledge of processes and patterns of use is based on frequent analysis of server logs (especially regarding the paths by which people traverse DAC pages) and on direct user feedback and suggestions since 1996.
