FIRST YEAR MATTERS:

FEET TO THE FIRE

COMMON READING PROGRAM

All new students are strongly encouraged to read the First Year Matters (FYM): Feet to the Fire common reading assignment before they arrive on campus.   Once on campus, you will attend a FYM Feet to the Fire faculty lecture and be assigned to a discussion group on the readings and lecture led by a faculty member. Go to this page to see your reading assignment and optional supplemental readings. Check out this page for FYM events.

The FYM readings are available through Olin Library's electronic reserve system ("e-reserve") which you can access through your e-portfolio or through the "LIBRARY" link on Wesleyan's front page. You may be required to enter your Wesleyan username and password to gain access to e-reserve.  On the Library page, under "Find..." go to "Reserves", then to "Items Online - ERes". In the page for the "Ereserves Index" you will find a text box for searching the index. Type in the course number "fym001". A page will appear with one matching course, "FYM001". Click on this course.  The next page will ask you for a password.  The password is "fym001".

This process is one with which you will become very familiar as most courses now have many readings available on-line through the library's electronic reserve system.
