Dean Melendez will be there to welcome you back to another semester.

 

Faculty/Sophomore Supper Series for the spring.  On Monday, February 4th at 5.30 PM meet for an intimate dinner with President Michael Roth.  Location:  East Asian Studies Building.  Free to the first 20 sophomores, must reserve a space ahead of time.  Email Dean Melendez, mmelendez@wesleyan.edu  if interested.

 

"Choosing a Major Workshop"

Sponsored by the Dean's Office and the Career Resource Center.

If you are still questioning what department to declare a major in this is for you.  How does the major tie into a real job?  Come find out before the deadline.

 

Interested in becoming a Peer Advisors

The Office of the Dean of the College is looking for talented and motivated students to become SARN Peer Advisors for the 2008-2009 academic year. SARN Peer Advisors are juniors and seniors who work throughout the academic year to support Wesleyan’s faculty advising program, enhance student access to academic resources through the Student Academic Resource Network (SARN), and give peer advice on time management and academic skills strategies. Please urge any students who you think may be good candidates to apply or apply yourself! A job description and application are found on-line at www.wesleyan.edu/deans/peeradvising/. Applications, which include a faculty reference form, are due Friday, March 7, 2008. Questions should be directed to the Associate Dean for Student Academic Resources, Sarah E. The URBAN EDUCATION SEMESTER (UES) is an interdisciplinary, academic immersion program that introduces students to the theory and practice of urban public education.  UES provides real world experiences in community development, teaching, urban issues and public education and is offered in both fall and spring semesters.  UES is one of a handful of domestic-approved programs that Wesleyan students may attend for credit.

 

The program combines supervised fieldwork in the NYC schools with course work and an advisement seminar at Bank St. College of Education.  The program also provides real world experiences in community development.

 

Come hear Wes graduates of UES tell you how great their UES semester was!!!!!!

 

Major Madness:  Monday, February 18, 2008  4.30PM, Usdan 108

Student Senior Panel will discuss how they chose their major, the resources they used, the classes they took, the professors that helped, and the jobs/internships they found.

Summer Opportunities:  Davenport Study Grants

Limited funds are available to support student research and other student scholarly projects in public affairs to begin this summer.  Only current sophomores and juniors are eligible.  These funds are made available through a gift to Wesleyan University from the Surdna Foundation in honor of Frederick Morgan Davenport, Wesleyan University Class of 1889, and Edith Jefferson Andrus Davenport, Wesleyan University, Class of 1897.  for more information: Davenport Study Grants
