Kazuaki Tanahashi has exhibited his Zen calligraphy world-wide. His striking yet subtle calligraphic creations are grounded in his experience of Zen teaching. He writes, "To me the essence of the brush creative process is mindfulness...the brush helps you to cultivate a meditative state of mind.' Mr. Tanahashi's emphasis on mindfulness, healing, breath and breakthrough give these apparently simple works great depth and resonance. Mr. Tanhashi will be in residence at Wesleyan for the first weekend of the exhibition.
