Before playing the game
Getting game results during or after the game
Game Screen (From an older version - needs to be updated) Take a look at the game screen, so you can be familiar at the time the game starts. The game screen is color coded for smoother navigation. Click on any of the numbered regions (also color coded) for an explanation of that section.
This area shows shows information related to actions (including producing and consuming) you carry out. Look in this region to find out whether an action you carried out was successful or not. The clock on the right indicates time remaining till the end of the round. A voice will remind you when only one minute is left.
This section shows the country where you are located, the game, instance, and round you are playing, how much labor you have, and your running score. Your score will depend on how much utility you derive from consumption.
When you make an offer, you have to indicate which good do you want in exchange. Your offers will appear in this frame. You will be able to retract an offer at any time during the round by clicking the retract button. As long as you have an offer to sell a good in the market, that good appears in the “Encumbered” column in the bottom frame. You will need to retract an offer that no one is taking before you can consume the good. Offers from other players appear in the purple frame to the right. You can accept any of those offers at any time during the round. Notice that you will need to produce a good before you can offer it in exchange for other good.
This section allows you
You will first have to produce before you can make an offer or consume. Your production possibilities depend on your endowment of labor. As you produce, your endowment of labor will be reduced. The cost of production of the goods in terms of units of labor is indicated in the bottom frame.
This
frame in the bottom contains your
goods inventory, which will change as
you produce, sell, buy, or consume
goods. It is very important that you
remember to consume before the end of
the round, as that is the way you will
get utility. Notice that your
consumption cannot exceed what you
have in inventory, shown in the last
column of the table in the bottom
frame.
This frame shows the offers made by other players on the market. You can accept any of these offers and your inventory will change to reflect this.
This section shows messages from other users and system information about when new rounds have started or ended. By
clicking on the “Game Info” button
at the bottom of the screen, you get
information about the times when
rounds start and end. To hide the
window that comes up, click on this
same button which changes to read
"Hide Game Info"
By clicking on the “Send Message” button, you can send a message to a given player or to all the players. This is a good tool for making deals, or advertising your goods. In the window that comes up you can choose a specific player or all players to send a message to, type the message and send it. This message appears in the "System Messages frame".
This window comes up when you click on the "Utility Calculator" button. Put in the amount of each good you want to consume and click the calculate button to see the amount of utility derived. The utility feeds directly into your score for the round. This calculator allows you to plan your actions. The utility is scaled so that if you just produce and consume without trading, the maximum utility you can reach is 1. You can achieve a utility of more than 1 only if you gain from trade.
