Wesleyan
University has a variety of facilities that may be rented for special
events.
MEMORIAL CHAPEL
Located
at 221 High Street, Wesleyan University’s Memorial Chapel is a
multi-denominational chapel that seats up to 530 in traditional pews in
two levels, both of which are accessible to individuals with disabilities.
The recently renovated Gothic revival brownstone building is air-
conditioned and has new sound and lighting systems. A glass atrium, the Zelnick Pavilion, connects the Chapel to the Patricelli ’92 Theater.
Both the Chapel and Pavilion are available for rental to Wesleyan
affiliates and the general public.
RUSSELL
HOUSE
Located at the corner of Washington and High
Streets, the Russell House, named a National Historic Landmark in 2001, is
furnished with period antiques. A ramp for those with disabilities was
completed in 2004. Five rooms and a kitchen on the first floor are
available for events; one of these rooms opens onto a lovely garden.
Restrooms and coat racks are located in the basement. Receptions of up to
100 persons or sit-down dinners for 60 can be held within the house;
larger events necessitate the setting up of a tent in the back garden at
an additional expense.
