Requirements

To fulfill the major, students must complete satisfactorily:

    * Film 304: History of World Cinema to the 1960s and Film 310 : Introduction to Film Analysis
    * One basic production course (Film 440: Virtual Filmmaking or Film 450: Sight and Sound)
    * Film 414: Senior Seminar
    * A minimum of six electives

Students must complete at least ten Film Studies courses (four required, six electives) to fulfill the major.

All film majors may apply a maximum of FOUR credits in our non-history/theory course offerings to their Wesleyan degree. These credits include 16mm Sight and Sound, digital Sight and Sound, screenwriting, and/or a senior digital, 16mm, or virtual thesis (1 credit each semester). For example, a student can take a Sight and Sound class, screenwriting, and make a senior visual thesis, or can take BOTH Sight and Sound production classes and make a senior visual thesis, or not make a senior visual thesis and take both Sight and Sounds plus screenwriting. Note that only ONE Sight and Sound and ONE non-history/theory elective (another Sight and Sound, screenwriting) may count toward the TEN courses required for the major.
