SOME LIKE IT HOT

In what AFI has ranked as the funniest film ever made, two down-on-their-luck musicians (played by Tony Curtis and Jack Lemmon) accidently witness a murder and go on the run from the mob. What better place to hide than in an all-female jazz band? There they meet Sugar, played by Monroe. As the music starts thumping and the gin starts pouring, the cross-dressing buddies figure out that maybe’s they’ve bit off more than they can chew…

With special introduction by Ed Herrmann, actor and film historian.

GENTLEMEN PREFER BLONDES

In this adaptation of the stage musical, Jane Russell and Monroe play lounge singers on a cruise ship. While Monroe’s Lorelei Lee is after men with money, Russell’s Dorothy Shaw is searching for true love. During the cross-Atlantic voyage, the two women scheme and sing their way around the ship.

Marilyn Monroe shines in this romantic comedy, in which she plays a model and sometimes actress who is the object of attraction to straight-laced publishing man Richard (Tom Ewell), a man who, in his 7th year of marriage, is starting to feel a pull away from his wife.

RIVER OF NO RETURN

1954. USA. Dir: Otto Preminger. With Robert Mitchum, Marilyn Monroe, Rory Calhoun . 91 min.

Set in the Pacific Northwest in 1875, this Western stars Marilyn Monroe as Kay, a saloon singer who has been caring for a young boy, Mark. Mark’s father, the rough Matt Calder (played by Robert Mitchum) comes to fetch him. A wild adventures ensues.
