Reminder: View your financial aid record through SIMON on the "My Financial" tab of your E-Portfolio. You also may grant guest access to your Electronic Portfolio to those persons who may help you complete the application process
Wesleyan is committed to meeting the full demonstrated need of all financial aid applicants and will continue this commitment through these challenging economic times. It is important for applicants to recognize the importance of the deadline.
Returning students whose application materials have not been received by Wesleyan by May 15th will be subject to a $1000 scholarship penalty. The penalty will increase to $2000 on July 15th. We will replace the loss of scholarship with available loan funding. We will not assess a penalty for a late Office of International Studies Budget Worksheet, but processing may be delayed. Wesleyan reserves the right not to award any institutional funds if an application is completed after August 1, 2015.
1ST TIME APPLYING FOR FINANCIAL AID

1. WESLEYAN'S RETURNING STUDENT ON-LINE APPLICATION
Complete Wesleyan's Returning Student On-Line Application only available through SIMON via the student's electronic portfolio.
2. FREE APPLICATION FOR FEDERAL STUDENT AID (FAFSA) 2015-16
Wesleyan's code number is 001424.
Renewal and new applications should be submitted on-line by April 24th to ensure meeting the May 15th deadline. Pre-application worksheets may be downloaded beforehand to assist with completion of the on-line form. Families are encouraged to complete the application using parent and student federally assigned PIN numbers. If you have forgotten your PIN number or wish to request one click here.
Wesleyan recommends that you use the IRS Data Retrieval tool which pulls your prior year tax information directly into your FAFSA, in an effort to reduce additional required documents. For optimal filing, submit your taxes electronically. After approximately 2-3 weeks, your IRS data will be available for transfer to your FAFSA; if you submit a paper return to the IRS, it will take approximately 8-11 weeks before the IRS data is available for transfer to your FAFSA.
If you haven’t completed your taxes at the time you file your FAFSA, you will not be able to use the Data Retrieval tool at that time. However you can answer that you “will file” your taxes and you can still use estimates to answer the income questions and go back to the FAFSA later to complete the Data Retrieval process.
FAFSA Reject - Correction Required: If you have submitted your FAFSA, received your SAR (Student Aid Report) and must make corrections (ex. lack of parent and student signatures) please click here make corrections to your FAFSA.
3. COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIP SERVICE (CSS) PROFILE 2015-16

In lieu of the Profile explanation box, we encourage you to submit directly to the Financial Aid Office the dollar-specific details relative to any special circumstances that affect your ability to contribute to a Wesleyan education.
Students applying for Federal Aid only (such as Federal Direct Loans) are not required to complete the CSS/PROFILE.
The Institutional Documentation Service (IDOC) is a service of the CollegeBoard that Wesleyan University uses to collect all tax information and supplements associated with applying for financial aid. DO NOT send the tax documents directly to Wesleyan.
If parents operate a business or farm, submit a copy of the most recent partnership or corporate tax return to IDOC with K1s.
Tax documents should be submitted by April 24th to ensure meeting the May 15th deadline.
The IDOC service now allows direct submission via the IDOC website (recommended) as well as submission via regular U.S. mail. Read the instructions carefully in order to avoid delays. Click HERE to log in to IDOC.
- If you are submitting IDOC through the recommended direct upload process please be sure to follow the instructions on the IDOC website.
- If you are submitting information to IDOC via regular mail please submit all supporting documents directly to the CollegeBoard as one complete packet accompanied by your personalized IDOC coversheet. The IDOC coversheet is available for printing on the IDOC website. In the case of divorced or separated parents, you may submit your noncustodial parent tax information with your custodial household IDOC submission to the CollegeBoard. Alternatively, you may forward a separate copy of the IDOC coversheet to your noncustodial parent to be completed and submitted directly to the CollegeBoard with their tax information only. If you have additional documents after you mail your IDOC documents, we ask you mail these documents directly to our office.
After reviewing application materials, the Office of Financial Aid may determine that additional information is needed. The office will contact the applicant to request any additional documentation. If you have additional documents after your initial IDOC submission, we ask you to mail it to our office directly.
TAX FILING EXTENSION, if applicable

If there is a filing extension, submit the extension form to the financial aid office by May 15th. Eligibility for aid cannot be determined until the tax return is submitted to Wesleyan.
NON CUSTODIAL PARENT INFORMATION, if applicable

In an effort to reduce the number of items a student needs to provide, noncustodial parent information does not need to be submitted annually. The noncustodial parent has the option of requesting a formal review of his or her current information. Unless you or your noncustodial parent advise us otherwise, Wesleyan will use last year’s application as a basis for determining the 2015-16 noncustodial contribution. (Note: if the parents divorced/separated since the last time the student applied for aid, we will need the noncustodial parent to complete the Noncustodial Parent Statement and submit their 2014 taxes and W2(s) directly to our office - not IDOC - click HERE for the Noncustodial Parent Statement. The custodial parent's information should be used to complete the CSS Profile and FAFSA as outlined above.)

All parents who submit financial information will be able to discuss their student's application status and financial aid award with our office. Please email the Financial Aid Office at firstname.lastname@example.org so we can turn on your Returning Student On-Line application in your E-portfolio. Our office will then waive your taxes and CSS Profile, if you are applying for the Federal Aid.
However, if your file is selected for verification our office will require your 2014 W2s along with IRS Income Verification. If your Student Aid Report (SAR) indicates that you have been selected for verification click here.
In an effort to streamline the reapplication process for international students, we do not collect your family's financial information annually. You do not need to turn any documents in to the Office of Financial Aid for 2015-16. Unless we are otherwise advised by you or your family, Wesleyan will use last year's application as a basis for determining the 2015-16 total family contribution. Our office will produce a financial aid award for you prior to your Fall bill notification. Your family has the option of requesting a formal review of your current information. If you would like a formal review please submit the CSS Profile available at https://profileonline.collegeboard.com/prf/index.jsp, and send verification of income with English translation directly to our office by May 15th, 2015.
