Nehemiah is seeking one or more reliable students for a minimum of 8
hours a week beginning winter semester 2008. There is some
flexibility with scheduling hours. The position requires a bright,
hardworking, student with good communication and computer skills.
Tasks are varied. In general, specific office tasks range from
administrative, property management to coordination of projects or
volunteers. Other needs are answering phones, responding to
walk-ins, copying materials, running errands, or filing. The
position may be adapted to a student’s interests and skills.
The work environment is busy but relaxed. Since the site is a
short walk off-campus, wages are above suggested pay rates ($8.35/hr
-$10.00).
Nehemiah Housing Corporation develops and operates a range of
housing options where people of all incomes can live in affordable
and safe homes. Those housing options range from subsidized rental
apartments for families transitioning from homelessness to
home-ownership opportunities for families who earn up to 80% of area
median income (approximately $47,700 for a family of four or $53,650
for a two person household.)
Nehemiah works with the Community Health Center to provide
support to formerly homeless households so residents develop skills
to successfully manage day-to-day issues and enhance economic
self-sufficiency. Nehemiah collaborates with the North End Action
Team (NEAT) and others to provide safe neighborhoods where parents
can focus energies on providing a better life for themselves and
their children.
In addition to this supportive housing, Nehemiah provides rental
apartments affordable to households earning approximately $32,100
for a family of two or earning near $40,000 for a family of four.
Currently Nehemiah is revitalizing eight properties to provide
home-ownership opportunities for a household to buy a two-family
home or one of 15 condominium units ranging in size from two to four
bedrooms, with three homes being handicapped assessable. These
developments are currently underway on Ferry, Green and Rapallo
streets of Middletown’s North End. This project is part of
Nehemiah’s larger "Three Rivers" revitalization plan for the
historic North End of Middletown. |
