A hands on job for those who really like working with kids, are
committed to using theater as a means toward positive youth
development, and are willing to make a commitment for at least
one year. Meet weekly, along with a troupe leader/artist, with a
group of young people who live in some of the area's lowest income
neighborhoods, with a focus on performing arts activities. Most
troupes meet late afternoons; one group meets Tuesday nights.
Looking to hire between 16 and 20 students. Attend weekly
planning meetings with fellow assistants and teacher and three
training workshops throughout the year.
Oddfellows Playhouse Youth Theater was founded in 1975 by
Wesleyan students and has grown into one of Connecticut's
premier youth arts organizations, an independent non-profit
annually serving over 1000 children from throughout central
Connecticut. Oddfellows Playhouse's mission has three parts:
1. Artistic- To provide high-quality theater by and for
young people
2. Educational - To promote the gowth of young people - in
skills knowledge and self-confidence - through the
performing arts
3. Social Action - To offer special opportunities to
underserved youth in order to promote a multicultural
society
