A hands on job for those who really like working with kids, are committed to using theater as a means toward positive youth development, and are willing to make a commitment for at least one semester. Teaching assistants work with professional teaching artists who are leading classes and directing productions. Assistants help with set-up and clean-up, model positive participation in workshops and rehearsals, and support teachers as requested. We are seeking 7-12 assistants for each semester.
Oddfellows Playhouse Youth Theater was founded in 1975 by Wesleyan students and has grown into one of Connecticut's premier youth arts organizations, an independent non-profit annually serving over 1000 children from throughout central Connecticut. Oddfellows Playhouse's mission has three parts: 1. Artistic- To provide high-quality theater by and for young people 2. Educational - To promote the growth of young people - in skills knowledge and self-confidence - through the performing arts 3. Social Action - To offer special opportunities to underserved youth in order to promote a multicultural society Oddfellows is close to campus, and is a great place to make a difference in the community and in the lives of young people.
