2008-2009 Application for Financial Aid and Deadlines

Returning Students:  Deadline May 15, 2008
2008-2009 renewal packets were mailed to students' Wes Box addresses February 4, 2008

Reminder View your financial aid record through the "My Financial" tab of your E-Portfolio.  You may also wish to provide guest access to your parent(s) as the office cannot release information about your application without your consent.

Returning students whose application materials have not been received by Wesleyan by May 15 will be subject to a $500 scholarship penalty. A penalty will not be assessed for a late Office of International Studies Budget Worksheet, but processing may be delayed. Wesleyan reserves the right not to award any institutional funds if an application is completed after August 15, 2008.

Printable Checklist (.pdf)

1. The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Renewal and new applications are available after January 1, 2008 at www.fafsa.ed.gov. Pre-application worksheets may be downloaded beforehand to assist with completion of the on-line form.
Families are encouraged to complete the application using parent and student federally assigned PIN numbers.  If you have forgotten your PIN number or wish to request one click here.

FAFSA Reject - Correction Required:  If you have submitted your FAFSA, received your SAR (Student Aid Report) and must make corrections (ex. lack of parent and student signatures) please click here for further instructions.

2. The ProfileTM Form of the College Scholarship Service.  Students must complete the Profile on-line at www.collegeboard.com. In lieu of the Profile explanation box, applicants are encouraged to submit dollar-specific details relative to any special circumstances that affect their ability to contribute to a Wesleyan education directly to Wesleyan.

3. Signed copies of the student's and parents' 2007 federal tax return and W2 forms.  Beginning late February, submit to the College Board's Imaging & Documentation (IDOC) Service, NOT Wesleyan, with the IDOC Cover Sheet*. If there is a filing extension, submit the extension form to the financial aid office by May 15. Eligibility for aid can not be determined until the tax return is submitted to Wesleyan.

New for 2008:
In an effort to reduce the number of items a student needs to provide, noncustodial parent information does not need to be submitted annually. The noncustodial parent has the option of requesting a formal review of his or her current information.  Unless we are otherwise advised by you or your noncustodial parent, Wesleyan will use last years application as a basis for determining the 2008-09 noncustodial contribution.

4.  If parents operate a business or farm, a Business/Farm Supplement (.pdf file) and a copy of the most recent partnership or corporate tax return.  Submit to Wesleyan.

5. Wesleyan Application for Financial Aid (.pdf file). Scholarship Questionnaire (.pdf file).  Submit to Wesleyan.

6.  Verification Worksheet, if selected by the Federal Student Aid Programs.  Submit to Wesleyan:
Dependent Student
Independent Student

7.  Permission to share information release form(.pdf).  Student release form for others to discuss financial aid file.

Students applying only Federal Stafford Loans are not required to complete the ProfileTM .  Tax documents should be submitted directly to IDOC.

* On February 15, 2008, the College Board's IDOC Service emailed instructions explaining how they (not Wesleyan) will collect the documents indicated above for processing your 2008-09 aid. Read the instructions carefully in order to avoid delays and late penalties. The College Board will collect, scan and forward your documents to Wesleyan via a secured website.

After reviewing application materials, the Office of Financial Aid may determine that additional information is needed. The office will contact the applicant to request any additional documentation.
(Miscellaneous forms that may be requested)

International Students:

Only international students who were admitted to Wesleyan with financial aid should complete an application.  There is no assistance for returning international students who did not previously receive aid.

Do not submit the FAFSA or ProfileTM. The International Student Financial Aid Application (.pdf) of the College Scholarship Service is required along with verification of income with English translation.
