Using Position Management
Anyone who oversees personnel budgets,
is involved with hiring, or supervises another employee will be accessing
and updating information connected to positions. All time reporting, pay
adjustments, job changes, reporting relationships, recruitment, and
budgeting are reported by position. Positions are a critical tool for all
managers with the new HRMS system.
Position Management enables the
University to provide detailed, current information about the people who
work here. Everyone employed by the University is assigned a position.
Whether people are full-time, part-time, temporary, students, graduate
students, interns, or private instructors, they are linked to at least one
position. In cases where an employee may have multiple appointments or are
working in more than one department, the employee may be assigned to more
than one position. On the other hand, there are instances where more than
one employee may be assigned to one position (i.e. two temporary employees
working in the same department).
Positions have attributes that define
them within the organization, whether an individual happens to be filling
the position or not.
Whenever anyone you
supervise has a change to a position attribute, it is important to
promptly submit a position change request. If approved, it will
immediately be reflected in all publications and listings, including mailing
labels, the online and printed directories.
