The German Studies Department offers courses taught in German on all levels of proficiency, courses taught in English on a wide range of subject matters, an excellent study abroad program, a wide variety of fellowship opportunities for advanced study abroad (DAAD, Fulbright, Humboldt, and the Baden-Württemberg Exchange Program), and an innovative interdisciplinary major, allowing students to concentrate in one or more areas of inquiry: literature, film and visual culture, and critical thought. German Studies majors frequently choose to broaden their studies by double-majoring in other fields such as Art History, Film Studies, History, the COL, or the CSS.
