Oktoberfest at Wesleyan
Oktoberfest at Wesleyan
The Deutsche House hosted the Oktoberfest on October 30. The event was held in their backyard at 135 High Street. Earlier that day they had baked pretzels, bread, and cooked 6 different types of sausages that were served with different kinds of mustard and with sauerkraut. While the Oktoberfest in Munich is known for its many beer tents and huge beer mugs, a variety of sodas were served to the students instead. The entertainment was provided by “Dear Lamp.” Their live music alternated between to kinds of music: traditional Bavarian music and German punk. Approximately 75 people, including some faculty, attended this event. As one can tell from the pictures, despite the cold weather everyone had a great time.
The Deutsche House organizes several cultural events per semester and a “Kaffeestunde” twice a month on Fridays from 4-5:30pm. EVERYONE is very welcome! The next Kaffeestunde will be on Friday, November 14. Please check with David Wen Riccardi-Zhu (dwriccardizhu@gmail.com) to find out about the rest of their event schedule.
