Park Washington Windows Update (Manny):
Manny informed the group that the project will be very
expensive so it will be done in a period of 3 years. Right
now they are awaiting quotes from vendors. Since PW is not
under the normal funding process like the other graduate
housing assignments. Since it is its own entity, revenues
are strong and separate so the project could go forward.
Likely to start in the late summer ’05 or fall ’05. Manny
should have more to report in Feb meeting.
In the meantime, there are free laundry facilities in PW until the machines are switched over to WESCARDs. Residents should visit North College, first floor for the new WESCARDs if they don’t have the barcode in the back. All machines on campus are switching over to the new WESCARD. It works like a debit, student has to deposit money on the card and then can use it to make purchases.

Park Washington Recycling Update (Melanie)
Mel has informed the group that Middletown doesn’t have
the type of recycling bins PW needs. Blue bins will be
distributed to all tenants. There are 3 large bins with
only 1 top outside. Problem is that the tops disappear
due to weather or neighbors. Bins are not well marked outside.
Suggestion was to build a box to house all 3 bins outside for
stability. Nick will supervise an education program at PW.
Mel is now the house manager of PW. Timeline: building of
box not clear. Other bin will be delivered this week.
Lease Revision Update (Rich)
Rich informed group that the entire lease and other
Reslife documents will be examined by Mike Benn, university
attorney and director of affirmative action. Once that is
done, the lease will be finalized, looked over by group and
should be wrapped up by early May.
India House: return status of current residents (Nick)
Nick reported that there are currently 3 second yr graduates
living in India House. They should all be finished by this May
’05. Marina informed the group that a new graduate student from
physics department will be moving to India House this week.
She is a very late arrival for this semester. The issue
remains whether to locate another music house for graduates with
or without practice rooms. One possible solution is the basement
storage units in PW turned into practice rooms. Problem arises
with access to PW if that were to occur. India House will be
sold by Spr 06 or sum 06.
32 Fairview will be added to the graduate stock as family housing.
160 Lincoln St will be sold by spring 05.
This discussion still very much alive and awaiting how other housing issues will be resolved.
Frozen Pipes:
Maureen wants some kind of information to be presented
to graduates, and faculty living in campus housing to prevent
frozen pipes. There were several issues on campus this weekend.
Mel and Manny will write something up and send to Marina. She
will disseminate to all graduates.
Housing Website:
Rich has the templates developing as you are reading
these minutes. He will pass to Mel for examination that stock
is updated correctly and then the website is ready to go live.
Another month should be done. Yippee!!!!!!
New Housing Application:
Graduates of the committee will come up with some language
about living with music students. There is need for more clear
language on the assignment process like who receives priority
treatment and so on. Currently, Gail has a list of students
wanting to move. The information needs to be accurate and updated.
MONDAY, February 28TH 11 AM. THERE WILL BE SNACKS!!!!
