Define Graduate student main concerns at Wesleyan

1. CIGNA health insurance:
   • the rate employed by CIGNA on our health insurance for grad students, is too high (similar to faculty/staff rate). What are your opinions?
   • where are we standing compared to other grad schools? Which grad should we be compared to?
   • grads should have an option for dental insurance coverage
   • why can't changes be made in medical insurance at times other than open enrollment?
   • should we consider addressing our health issues to the Health Committee composed of professors.
   • Alicia, Sarah and Marijo are the officers who will look into these health issues
2. Grad Housing:
   • A written complaint is absolutely imperative in order for the Grad Housing Committee to report a complaint to the housing committee and Office of Residential Life. Paula and Marijo will set up a form at the GSA web site for housing complains. Once a grad student has filled the form, this form would be emailed to one of the members of the housing committee who will then try to address the issue with the housing committee.
   • grad student housing form: The Office of Residential Life should have an option in the form for students ,such that grads who don’t want to live with music player/bands can have the option of living in a different house. Nick will look into this issue.
   • does the Office of Residential life charge rent for furnished house when actually the furniture does not belong to Wesleyan but actually to previous resident? We need to investigate.
   • grad student need a place to socialize. This place should replace The “India House”
3. Career Resource Center:
   • what specific resources are available at the CRC for Wesleyan Graduate students? One student reported that she was denied an appointment at the CRC because she wanted someone to review her resume and she was told that grad students have only access to the reference letter service.
   • grad student need a career resource service.
4. General:
   GSA officers should do their best in writing report/minutes a.s.a.p after their respective committee meetings so that the grad community can stay informed about what is going on by accessing the information trough the GSA website.
