Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is the easiest way to get to Wesleyan from an airport?

From Bradley International Airport, Hartford, CT:  Take a taxi to Wesleyan.  It is important to reserve a taxi in advance.  Executive 2000 is the service most often used.

    Executive 2000

From JFK International Airport:  Take a train to New Haven CT, Old Saybrook CT, or Meriden CT and then take a taxi to Wesleyan.  Note:  We do not recommend the Meriden Train Station -- it is remote, without services, and closed on Sunday.  The train stops at an empty platform.  Although it is the closest, it is difficult to manage.

Some current graduate students report that Wisla Express, a private airport transportation service, provides reliable door-to-door pick up and delivery.   You must call in advance to reserve,  860 229-7798.

  • What is the process for auditing a class?
The process for auditing courses is somewhat informal in that you would not actually register for the course.  You would approach an instructor (via email), express your interest in auditing the course and ask for permission to audit.  At the end of the term, the instructor must then send an email to the Registrar's office asking them to post an audit to your record.
  • Is WesCard linked to my stipend?
Your Wesleyab ID Card (WesCard) is not related to the stipend. It is related to accessing the library facilities, athletic facilities, and some residence halls.
  • How to I get my WesCard?
You can expediate the WesCard process by uploading your photo before you get to campus. Look in your Portfolio under the Tools and Links Section for WesCard Submission. If   you submit your photo in advance, your card will be ready for you to pick up when you arrive on campus.
  • When do I get my first stipend payment?
We do everything possible so that you will recieve your first stipend payment on September 15. This is dependent on successful completion of forms for the Payroll Office and your providing bank account information for direct deposit. We will review and collect the forms during Orientation. Direct Deposit is made through US banks so International Students will have to open an account at a US bank.
  • Do I need to notify anyone of my arrival plans?
If you will be living in Wesleyan Graduate Housing, you should notify Amy Alfano in the office of Residential Life of your arrival plans.  Email her at aalfano@wesleyan.edu so she can arrange to have your apartment keys ready for you. It is also helpful to notify the administrative assistant in your department of your expected arrival date.
