African Dance & Drumming
WEDNESDAY, July 30, 5:30–6:30pm in the Erin St. Community Garden
(Erin St. & High St.)
This event is FREE as part of the Arts in the Garden Series
Enjoy the pleasure of a summer evening during this weekly series of
participatory arts workshops. On July 30, Abdoulaye Sylla leads African
Dance and Drumming. Arts in the Garden activities are free and open to
people of all ages. Light refreshments will be served; children under 12
must be accompanied by an adult.
In the event of rain, Arts in the Garden will take place indoors at the
Green Street Arts Center. |

Salsa Practice Party
FRIDAY, June 13, 7:30–9:30pm
$8 ($5 members, seniors & students)
Tune up your moves or find a practice partner at Green Street’s new
Salsa practice parties. Teaching artist David Polon spins some of the
hottest Salsa tunes and brings you the latest moves from the dance
floor. Parties are not limited to former Green Street students—everyone
age 18 and older is welcome. Bring your dancin’ shoes! |

Salsa for Everyone

TUESDAYS, 6:15–7:15pm
5-week session: June 24–July 22
Tuition: $50 | Age 18+
Learn the sultry rhythms of salsa, and make new friends in this fun and
active class. Beginners will master all the basic steps and turns, those
with more experience can refine their moves and gain confidence with
support from teaching artist David Polon. Bring a friend or come by
yourself—singles and couples are welcome! |
Ballroom for Beginners
Instructor: David Polon
TUESDAYS, 7:15–8:15pm
June 24—July 22
Tuition: $50 | Age 18+
Starting with the Waltz and moving on, this class will introduce you to
the basics of ballroom dancing. Teaching artist David Polon covers a
variety of dances and techniques that will get you sweeping around the
dance floor with grace and poise. No partner necessary.

Ballroom Dance II

SATURDAYS, 12:30–1:30pm
5-week session: June 28–August 2
(No class July 5)
Tuition: $50 | Age 18+
Continue your journey into the elegant world of Ballroom. We will
continue working on the waltz, foxtrot and Argentine tango and the
techniques that will get you moving around the dance floor with grace
and poise. In addition to the basic steps and patterns, you will learn
the art of floor-craft (or how to navigate the dance floor), and how to
recognize what song goes with which dance. No partner necessary. |
So You Think You Can Dance?
Ages 7-10
Instructor: Katherine P. March
MONDAYS, 9am-12noon, July 6—August 3
Tuition: $150 | Limit: 15 students
In this class, you will learn a variety of different dance styles each
week, including jazz, hip-hop, modern, ballet, improvisation, and West
African. You will also learn to draw inspiration from other art forms,
including painting, writing, music, and film. The class culminates in a
dance project that you will help choreograph to be performed on August
1.

All levels welcome. Wear clothing that allows you to move and see your
body.
* * All dance classes are for students age 18 and up except where noted.
Younger students allowed with instructor’s permission.
