Begin your journey to making polished,
professional sound recordings by
learning on our state-of-the-art
equipment. John Bergeron will introduce
the fundamentals of audio theory,
demonstrate common interface problems
and explain the characteristics of a
variety of commonly used microphones and
preamps in addition to teaching the
basics of Pro Tools, "industry standard"
software for quality audio. Already have
a home studio? By the end of this
hands-on lecture/lab you'll be making
the most of it!
Music
Production

John Bergeron will lead you through an
exploration of the aesthetic choices in
music production; tonality, rhythm,
balance, dynamics, arrangement,
preparation and realization of a
successful music track and mix. Other
topics that will be introduced include
sequencing and MIDI Production and
multitrack recording techniques.
Participants will have the opportunity
to work with a musician in Green
Street's state-of-the-art recording
studio. Students who have not taken
Sound Recording I may be admitted with
instructor's approval.
Blogging
& Web Design
Instructor: Shawn Hill
WEDNESDAYS, 6:30 to 8:30pm
5 weeks starting September 23 | $125
Learn how to design, publish and
maintain a personal or professional blog
and website. We will explore a number of
free and low-cost options that you have
for getting your ideas, images and video
out on the web. You can use our PCs or
bring your own (Mac or PC) laptop to
class to get started. Students will be
guided in purchasing both a domain name
(www.yourname.com) and a hosting plan
for your website, blog and more. Domain
registration, hosting fees and ongoing
maintenance will be the responsibility
of the student.
Digital Video Animation
Instructor: Shawn Hill
THURSDAYS, 7 to 8pm
10 weeks starting September 18 | $125
Create web-ready animation shorts by
using our Mac lab and the program Anime
Studio. Each student will be guided in a
step-by-step way on how to create short
animated videos that tell a story,
illustrate a point, or simply generate a
smile. No previous animation experience
required. We will publish our work on
YouTube and burn copies on CD/DVDs to
take home. |
