Dear
Wesleyan Parent(s) or Guardian(s):
The
University requires all students to maintain
health insurance. Students returning from abroad or
a leave of absence and spring transfer students must
comply with spring insurance requirements. Every
year, a few students have not been allowed to
register or have been billed for unnecessary
insurance because they did not submit the required
forms and thus experienced needless frustration.
Please complete the necessary online forms as
soon as possible.
If
you have private insurance and do not want the
university-sponsored plan,
please show proof of insurance (waive) online at
www.gallagherkoster.com/wesleyan. Please
remember to keep a copy of the confirmation page you
receive once you have waived online. (Please note
that some insurance companies such as Kaiser
Permanente, Oxford, United Health Care,
Presbyterian, and AIG may not participate in Quest
Diagnostics Laboratory, which the Health Center uses
for laboratory services. If you have an HMO plan or
your plan does not cover out of network you might
consider enrolling in the university plan).
If
you do not have private insurance
you MUST ENROLL online in the university-sponsored
spring plan at
www.gallagherkoster.com/wesleyan. Your student
account will be billed $601 for the spring insurance
plan (1/15/12 to 8/11/12) in February; please do not
send payment now.
Wesleyan University will continue to offer low cost
student loans to most students who need assistance
covering the cost of the health insurance policy.
Grant aid assistance will be limited. Please review
your financial aid award letter for your specific
eligibility. Since you will not be charged for
health insurance until after the start of the spring
semester, financial aid adjustments will not occur
until that time.
A hold will be placed on class registration for failure to show proof of private insurance or enroll in the plan by
January 31.
