ANNUAL HEALTH INSURANCE REQUIREMENT

YOU MUST SHOW PROOF OF EXISTING INSURANCE (WAIVE) OR ENROLL ONLINE 

Dear Student and Parent(s)/Guardian(s),

The Davison Health Center is staffed by physicians, nurse practitioners, a physician associate, and nursing personnel who provide comprehensive primary care services for illnesses and injury to students as part of your paid tuition.  In addition to services provided by Davison Health Center, the University requires all students to maintain health insurance in order to avoid difficult and costly medical situations that could arise, as well as to ensure that services outside the Health Center, such as laboratory tests, x-rays, diagnostic procedures and hospital stays are covered.  

Important requirements:  YOU ARE REQUIRED TO SHOW PROOF OF EXISTING INSURANCE (WAIVE) OR ENROLL ANNUALLY even if coverage has not changed from last year. Any student who fails to waive or enroll by the deadline could risk a hold of class registration.

In order to show proof of coverage (waive) if you are covered on another insurance policy, you should do the following:

·         Log onto www.gallagherkoster.com and click on Student Access, and select Wesleyan University from the drop down box.

·         First time users are required to create a unique user account.

·         Click on “Log In” to create or access an account on the website and complete the waiver form. Please have your insurance information available as you waive coverage.

If you do not have insurance and cannot prove coverage, you must enroll in the university-sponsored plan as follows: 

·         Go to www.gallagherkoster.com and follow the instructions above for accessing the Wesleyan forms page and complete the enrollment form.

·         The cost of the insurance for the year is $751 and the details of the plan can be found in the on-line brochure at www.gallagherkoster.com.

·         If you purchase coverage, you will be billed for that coverage on your student account in October. 

If you are a Wesleyan Scholarship recipient AND you are not covered under any other health insurance, you should enroll in the university sponsored plan by the deadline and your student account will be adjusted by the office of financial aid. Freeman Scholars who receive need-based grant aid should enroll in the university sponsored plan by the deadline. Please follow the instructions above.

If you would like to purchase coverage for your dependents and/or buy the Enhanced Supplemental Benefit, please download and complete the application form found at www.gallagherkoster.com. This option is available only to those who enroll in the basic Wesleyan insurance plan and cannot be billed to your student account. Please note that the university sponsored plan does not include prescription coverage.
