Update to Lice situation notice:

Because a number of potential cases of lice were identified generating a growing level of concern among students, a public health notice was sent out on 4/2/08. There has been no evidence of an outbreak per se.  Early on, one student was identified as having one actual louse and several students were identified as having potentially significant nits.  These individuals and appropriate close contacts have been treated.  A number of other students have been examined, few or none of whom had findings consistent with infestation.  No dorm or other location has been identified as a focus.  To the extent there may have been spread, it seems to have occurred within a social network among individuals that know one another well.  Follow up exams of the aforementioned affected individuals have not identified any residual infestations.  

Students are encouraged to contact the Health Center and speak with a nurse if they have additional questions.
