Flu Alert

Do you have asthma, diabetes, or other chronic illness?  Are you a smoker?

Certain groups are at elevated risk of pneumonia complicating H1N1 influenza infection.  The CDC recommends that these groups─ including asthmatics and smokers (aged 19 and older)─ be vaccinated with one dose of Pneumococcal (Pneumonia) vaccine in light of the current influenza pandemic. Wesleyan’s Davison Health plans to order pneumonia vaccine for students who meet criteria for increased risk of pneumonia associated with influenza.  The cost of the vaccine is $50 which will be charged to student account upon order.  We are not able to directly bill this cost to insurance, but can provide a bill that can be submitted retrospectively.

If you are at increased risk and wish to receive vaccination, please contact Joyce Walter at jwalter@wesleyan.edu.  You will be notified of the clinic date(s) when the vaccine shipment arrives.
