THE MISSION OF AFCA
(Administrators and Faculty of Color Alliance) |
|
AFCA, a volunteer organization comprised primarily of administrators,
faculty, and staff of African, Latino, Native American, and Asian descent,
provides fellowship and support to all students, faculty, and staff on
campus paying particular attention to the needs of the people of color in
the community.
As a community building organization that seeks to strengthen the
relationship between the Wesleyan community and its’ employees and students of
color. AFCA members and students meet periodically to discuss issues
pertaining to the Wesleyan community and develop strategies for enhancing the
community. The executive committee of AFCA serves as the directing arm of
the organization and meets periodically with the President of the University and
members of Senior Staff as appropriate, to enhance the lines of communication,
assist in the development of new strategies, to consult on issues for people of
color on Wesleyan’s campus, and to understand the future direction of the
institution.
The Campus Climate Log
The Campus Climate Log serves a threefold purpose:
-
It provides a vehicle for which campus members can
report hate incidents and acts of intolerance and educational interventions
and prevention efforts organized by staff members and students. Click
here to submit information to be posted to the log.
-
It is a communication tool that informs the Wesleyan
community about the campus climate.
-
It also refers users to Wesleyan’s
policies and procedures concerning discrimination and harassment.
