Disability Insurance
Short Term Disability
Eligible faculty members will continue to be paid their regular salary
for occasional absences because of illness or injury and during the first six
months of disability.
Eligible administrative staff members will continue to be paid their
regular salary for occasional absences because of illness or injury. During
absences for one continuous month or more because of an illness or injury,
eligible administrative staff members will be paid according to the following
schedule.

Short term disability benefits are reduced by Social Security, workers
compensation and similar payments, and are conditioned on the submission of
medical evidence satisfactory to the university.
Long Term Disability Insurance (LTD)
LTD insurance is fully paid by the university and provides participants who
have been disabled for more than six months benefits equal to 60% of salary
(maximum $11,500/month) in accordance with the terms and conditions set forth in
the plan. LTD benefits are reduced by Social Security, worker’s compensation,
and similar payments. LTD coverage is not available during the first 30 days of
service unless the new faculty or staff member submits evidence of similar LTD
coverage with his or her most recent employer.
