| TYPICAL DUTIES: | TYPICAL DUTIES: Reporting to the Senior Associate Director of Regional Programs and Networks, the assistant director is responsible for developing and implementing events on campus and in select regional areas, recruiting and managing alumni volunteers, and for supporting the Events Office team by coordinating various Homecoming/Family Weekend and Reunion & Commencement activities/projects. As a member of the Alumni and Parent Relations Office team, the assistant director will strive to develop relationships with a variety of alumni and parents, and to engage them in the life of the University.
Specific responsibilities include:
Developing events for alumni and parents including: affinity related events, faculty seminars, presidential receptions, book clubs and community service projects;
Executing events by: developing invitations, preparing the presenters, selecting appropriate venues, contracting for catering and other services;
Collaborating on projects with fundraising, communications and career resources staff in support of University Relations goals;
Traveling to staff events and meet with alumni and parent volunteers;
Managing student workers for on-campus events;
Coordinating various Homecoming/Family Weekend and Reunion & Commencement activities/projects;
Implementing Summer Sendoff Program for new students and their families;
Maintaining web pages;
Responding to alumni and parent questions/requests.

| MINIMUM DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: | MINIMUM DESIRED
QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree or May 2006 Wesleyan graduate. Two - three years experience in alumni relations, event planning, marketing or other related field. Previous undergraduate on campus leadership experience at Wesleyan may be substituted for experience. Ability to prioritize and attend to detail in a fast-paced environment. Effective written and verbal communication skills. Evidence of organizational and problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively. Must be adaptable, self-motivated and able to take initiative. Intermediate expertise with MS Word and Excel, email and database programs.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience in an educational setting. Developing and executing events for wide range of individuals and interests.
