POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT
JOB TITLE:Catholic Chaplain
DEPARTMENT:Campus Programs
GRADE:4
RANGE:Commensurate with experience. (10-month position working 2.5 days a week when classes are in session).
TYPICAL DUTIES:Reporting to the Dean of Campus Programs, the Catholic Chaplain is a member of the Center for Religious and Spiritual Life and has primary responsibility for coordination of Roman Catholic programs and services for students on campus. In addition, the Catholic Chaplain works closely with the other chaplains to respond to the needs of a spiritually diverse campus community.

Responsibilities include:
  • Preside over (or arrange for the celebration of) weekly liturgy as well as other important feasts;
  • Advise and counsel students on religious, academic and personal issues;
  • Provide religious instruction and prepare students for sacraments;
  • Advise the Catholic Student Organization and work with student leaders to build community;
  • Work with the other chaplains in the Center for Religious and Spiritual Life, to officiate at campus events and to facilitate programs that encourage exploration of spirituality (lectures, discussions, study groups, etc.).
  • MINIMUM DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A nun or layperson with a Master's degree in related field with significant campus ministry experience. Demonstrated familiarity with a college/university environment and student developmental issues. Proven ability to work with college students of all backgrounds.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Ordained priest.
