POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT
JOB TITLE:Patrol Person
DEPARTMENT:Public Safety
GRADE:
RANGE:Probationary Rate $12.86 per hour, plus Shift Differentials
(Evening - $1.00/hr; Weekend - $2.00/hr)
After successful completion of 12-month probationary period, hourly rate will be $13.37.
TYPICAL DUTIES:Reporting to the Director of Public Safety, the Patrol Person is responsible for the protection of life and property and limited enforcement of rules and regulations established by Wesleyan University.

Responsibilities include:
  • Check the security of University buildings and property; on foot patrol, check for safety hazards, maintain lookout for unusual or suspicious conditions;
  • Refer all such situations to a supervisor and assist as directed;
  • Assist in emergency situations according to standard procedures and provide a variety of special security services;
  • Perform similar and related duties as assigned;
  • Work evenings and overtime as necessary.

    The work schedule is midnight - 8:00 am. This position is in the public safety bargaining unit.
  • MINIMUM DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Demonstrated basic data entry skills. Proven ability to follow clear and precise instructions and record pertinent information. Must pass a physical exam and proficiency test. Must have and maintain a valid driver's license.
    Submission to a complete criminal and motor vehicle background check is required.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or GED.

    COMPETENCIES: Written and oral communication skills, action oriented, priority setting, problem solving.
