POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT
JOB TITLE:Fiscal Analyst
DEPARTMENT:Finance
GRADE:3
RANGE:$35,000 - $40,000
TYPICAL DUTIES:Reporting to the Director of Financial Planning, the Fiscal Analyst will support the development, implementation and monitoring of the University's operating budget.

Responsibilities include:
  • Establish and revise annual budgets in the web-based budgeting system;
  • Monitor budget to actual performance results on a regular basis;
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly forecasts of revenues and expenditures;
  • Analyze and investigate complex budget problems; recommend and implement solutions;
  • Synthesize financial data and present clear summary of findings to Director;
  • Review and analyze audit reports, research discrepancies and resolve any issues;
  • Assist with month-end and year-end activity by processing journal and budget entries;
  • Review current business practices and recommend new reporting tools and/or procedures to monitor budgets;
  • Partner with financial managers in various areas of the University on budget matters;
  • Document procedures and business processes; provide training on the new budgeting system;
  • Assist with ad-hoc financial analysis, special projects and provide general support as needed.
  • MINIMUM DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree with two years experience in financial analysis. Strong analytical and problem solving skills. Intermediate Excel skills. Proven ability to set priorities, take initiative, work efficiently, maintain data integrity, and follow through with minimal supervision. Position requires the ability to maintain confidentiality of information.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Previous experience using pivot tables and building queries in Excel.

    COMPETENCIES: Action oriented, attention to detail, customer focus, organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
